Practical guide Campo de Gibraltar
La Linea
La Linea, a town of the Cadiz province, is only a short stroll away and offers many bars and restaurants.
Alcaidesa Marina is situated on the eastern side of the Bay of Gibraltar on Spain's southern tip. The marina offers excellent shelter and deep water access in all weather conditions.
Places of Interest
Plaza de Farinas is one of the most charming squares in La Linea and close to the church of the Inmaculada Concepcion, built in 1879 in colonial style.
The Isthmus Museum (El Museo del Istmo), situated inside the Town Hall (Ayuntamiento) contains artefacts of great historic value and covers Naval History, Prehistoric History, Archaeology, The Middle Ages and Modern History.
Pepe Cabrera Bullfighting Museum, near the bullring, dedicated to the world of bullfighting contains objects such as the historic 'suits of lights' worn by the bullfighters and capes.
An outdoor market is held each Wednesday on Avenida Principe. From fresh fruit to antiques and clothes, the market is well worth visiting. There is also a market in the centre of La Linea open daily except Sunday.
Eating & Drinking
La Linea cuisine is mainly based on fish and shellfish. Traditional dishes served in bars and taverns include the atunara stew, the zarzuela fish casserole, sardines grilled on skewers and shrimp omelette. Delicious meats such as the Iberian Jamon (serrano hams) are also served. For dessert you can try japonesas, a sweet prepared with sponge cake and honey.
In the mornings you can enjoy ‘chocolate con churros’ (Spanish doughnut).
The Calle Real, with its great cafes & cake shops, and the neighbouring streets make up the centre of the town.
Beaches, Playa de Poniente and Playa de Levante.
